Money is an important thing in this game, yet it shouldn't be the reason why you play. For this reason I will give you my main source of income, in the hopes that someone posts up their main source of income.
Now this is not a new way of making money, judging by the increase in price for water crystals this is apparent. If you've heard of this before, then by all means stop reading. My main form of getting money is by NPCing grass grown by gardening.
Pros:
Easy money
No more then 5 minutes a day
Can do in a few minutes before you sign on every day
Profit gained by NPC therefore, no risk of economic inflation!
Cons:
Not much of an outcome unless you have mules
Requires you to sign on every day, even if its only for 5 minutes
Capital, although not high, is too high if you're already broke.
Requirements:
Earthen Flowerpot
A table (any table will do)
Water Crystal
Wildgrass Seeds
Suggestions:
Get mules, its easier to log on to a mule at a city and check the plants before you sign on to your main character, then to make sure you always have a scroll of instant warp every day you sign on to the game.
Larger amounts of profit comes with the more mules you get.
You have a maximum of 10 flowerpots per character, take full advantage of this.
Get each mule a Field Tunica, Field Boots and Field Hose to maximize harvesting results.
Strategy:
Load up your mules with a table and 10 flowerpots for maximum profit. On your main character go farm some water clusters (turns into stack of water crystals) from water elementals, or buy stacks of water crystals from the auction house. Also, go to Whitegate, pay for a boat ticket on the southern dock and talk to the mithra merchant. She will sell you Wildgrass Seeds for a consistent price. Buy lots of seeds. Send the crystals, seeds, pots and tables to your mule and set up shop. Place the pots on top of the tables (duh) and go into the gardening menu. select a pot, go to plant seeds and plant one of the wildgrass seeds into the flower pot. All items must be in your mog safe in order for your moogle to do this for you. Every day "examine" each flower pot to keep it alive. Eventually you will see the option to feed the flowerpot a crystal. when this happens feed it a water crystal. After around 5 days since you first planted the seed it will be ready for harvest and glow a blue color. Harvest each one of the plants and sell what you find the nearest NPC.
This is a good strategy in my opinion because i'm hardly ever broke yet i also don't really put much effort into gaining money. For the most part you will go for Toko. Wildgrass since it sells for 440gil each and i've gotten 17 peices of Toko Wildgrass from 3 out of the 10 pots in one harvest. Keep in mind there are times where you will not get anything good but Greens and Fire Crystals... this happens. There has been times when i get around 30,000 gil per harvest, and there has been times when i get 120,000 gil per harvest. Now on top of this i also farm, craft and telewhore so i would suggest this to be backup money, and not your main form of income. I hope this helps anyone who needs some steady gil!
